Hanover Coach Hire for Groups and Trade Fairs
Hanover dropped its low-emission zone in 2024, so the sticker question is gone. What shapes a group day here is the trade-fair calendar and the distances between the station, the gardens and the exhibition grounds.
No sticker needed
The Umweltbundesamt list shows Hanover's zone lifted on 22 February 2024. No sticker is needed for city driving. As rules may change, look again shortly before you go. Other cities on a round trip, such as Bremen, keep their zones.

The exhibition grounds
The Messegelände lies about 11 km south-east of the centre, where Hanover meets Laatzen, and about 30 minutes from the airport by road, traffic permitting. Cars and coaches use big paid car parks around the outside of the site. Visitors on the tram take Stadtbahn line 8 (and 18 at fair times) from the Hauptbahnhof to the north entrance, or line 6 for the east entrance. Buses 340 and 341 cover the remaining gates.
Where a coach sets down at the grounds is agreed with the operator for each fair. The next HANNOVER MESSE is on 5–8 April 2027. Hotels in the city and around it fill early in fair weeks, and many groups stay in Laatzen or near the airport.

Coach rules in Hanover that change the plan
- Hannover Airport (HAJ) at Langenhagen is about 14 km by road from Kröpcke, about 20-25 min in light traffic; S-Bahn line S5 runs between the airport and the Hauptbahnhof. The exhibition grounds are about 30 min from the airport by road, depending on traffic.
- Trains arrive at Hannover Hauptbahnhof, in the city centre; the tourist information is at the station. From the station the Stadtbahn runs to Kröpcke, the Herrenhäuser Gärten and the exhibition grounds.
- Hannover no longer has a low-emission zone: the Umweltbundesamt list shows it lifted on 22 February 2024, so no sticker is needed to drive in the city. Check before travel, as rules can change.
- Herrenhäuser Gärten: the signed visitor car park at the Großer Garten / Georgengarten (navigation address Herrenhäuser Straße 3c) takes coaches, which park free of charge there. From the A2 take the exit "Herrenhausen/Zentrum" to the B6, then the exit "Herrenhausen".
- Exhibition grounds: Stadtbahn line 8 (and 18 at fair times) runs from the Hauptbahnhof to the north entrance, line 6 to the east entrance, and bus lines 340 and 341 serve the south and west entrances. Parking is in large paid car parks outside the grounds.
- HANNOVER MESSE runs from 5 to 8 April 2027; hotels in Hannover and around fill early during the big fairs.
Herrenhausen and the city centre
The Herrenhäuser Gärten are the easy part. The signed visitor car park at the Großer Garten / Georgengarten is free for coaches; the navigation address is Herrenhäuser Straße 3c. From the A2, take the exit Herrenhausen/Zentrum onto the B6, then the exit Herrenhausen.
The centre is harder to pin down. No official coach stop or coach-park list was found for it, so the stopping point near the Neues Rathaus, Kröpcke or the Hauptbahnhof is agreed with the operator at booking. The congress centre (HCC) and the zoo lie east of the centre by the Stadtpark.
Out of town
Hildesheim takes about half an hour, Celle and Hamelin 45 to 50 minutes. Schloss Marienburg is about 35 minutes south. The Autostadt in Wolfsburg and the old town of Goslar are both a little over an hour; Wernigerode, in the Harz, is roughly 1 h 35 min.
Questions organisers ask
How far is Hanover Airport?
It is at Langenhagen, some 14 km from Kröpcke; allow 20 to 25 minutes when roads are quiet. S-Bahn line S5 runs to the Hauptbahnhof.
Do we need a green sticker?
Not for Hanover, which lifted its zone in 2024. Check the rules for any other city on the route.
Can a stand team be moved between hotel and fair every day?
Yes. Send the hotel addresses, the entrance you need and the daily times. The operator confirms where the coach can stop at the grounds.
