Berlin Brandenburg (BER) coach transfers: Bus Stop B and the drive into Berlin
BER is one of the more straightforward German airports for a group coach. There is a proper coach station, Bus Stop B, and every group walks there from the terminal. The question is only how long the walk takes.
Bus Stop B in practice
Bus Stop B is an open-air coach station on level U1. From Terminal 1 it is about 400 m, roughly three minutes on foot. From Terminal 2 it is about 600 m, around seven minutes. The route crosses Hugo-Junkers-Ring at traffic lights, beside car parks P4 or P6. Follow the signs for 'Bus-stop B'.
Of its 30 bays, the first fourteen are kept for scheduled lines; group coaches use the rest. Trolleys are there for the luggage. Anyone in the group with limited mobility can use the call point at the Bus Stop B exit to reach the airport's assistance team.

What a coach cannot do at BER
Only vehicles up to 3.5 t may use the terminal forecourts. A coach may not use them, not even for a minute. Cars with driver and light minibuses get 10 free minutes there, three times in any eight hours.
Bus Stop B is open day and night and charged by length of stay. It is not a place for the driver's statutory break either. If the coach is early or the flight is late, the operator plans the break somewhere else and times the return.
Where the coach meets the group
- Tour coaches (Reisebusse), long-distance coaches and hotel, trade-fair and car-park shuttles all use Bus Stop B (Bushaltestelle B), an open-air coach station on level U1 about 400 m (about 3 minutes' walk) from Terminal 1 and about 600 m (about 7 minutes' walk) from Terminal 2. It has 30 bays: bays 1 to 14 are reserved for approved scheduled services, and the others are available for occasional services such as group coaches. From the terminal, follow the signs to 'Bus-stop B': the route crosses Hugo-Junkers-Ring at traffic lights, beside car parks P4 or P6. Luggage trolleys are available, and a call point at the exit of Bus Stop B connects passengers with limited mobility to the airport's mobility service.
Coach parking and waiting
- Bus Stop B is open around the clock and has no height or weight limit. Charges apply according to the length of the stay, with payment machines at the entry and exit; driver rest breaks (Lenkpausen) are not allowed there. The kerbside forecourts (Vorfahrten) in front of the terminals may only be used by vehicles up to 3.5 t, so coaches cannot use them; cars and light minibuses get 10 minutes free, up to 3 times in each 8-hour window.
By road to the city centre
- about 27 km by road to the Brandenburger Tor, in the centre of Berlin, about 35-40 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Into the city
Allow 35 to 40 minutes for the 27 km to the Brandenburger Tor when roads are clear, more in the rush hour. Berlin's Umweltzone covers everything inside the S-Bahn ring, and coaches need the green sticker, foreign-registered ones as well. The partner operator sorts this before the trip.
Tell us the hotel address early so the operator can plan the set-down. Big events often close Straße des 17. Juni, which changes routes near the Brandenburger Tor.
Potsdam, Dresden and Leipzig
Onward runs: Potsdam, 51 km and roughly 45 minutes; Dresden, 170 km; Leipzig, 195 km. The last two take around two hours each when traffic is light. A group landing in the afternoon and heading on to Dresden needs a driver with hours left in the day: nine hours of driving is the daily limit, with a 45-minute break due after four and a half.
Questions organisers ask
Which terminal is closer to the coach?
Terminal 1. From Terminal 2, allow about seven minutes, and more with heavy bags or children.
Is the train quicker?
The FEX leaves every 15 minutes; the Hauptbahnhof is 23 minutes away. For a hotel near a station that can work. A large group with luggage avoids changes by coach.
Can a minibus collect us at the terminal door?
Yes, if it weighs no more than 3.5 t, which covers cars with driver and light minibuses. A coach has to use Bus Stop B.
