Eight Kinds of Group Trip, One Coach Booking
Every kind of group trip has one detail that decides the booking. Choose the one closest to yours to see what to settle before the coach is booked.
The detail that decides each trip
A Klassenfahrt needs a seat belt worn on every seat that has one. A Messe group needs the coach rules of that particular fair, which change from fair to fair. A sports team often travels on a Sunday, which is allowed for buses. A wedding usually means two venues, because the legal ceremony happens at the registry office. A long day tour runs up against the drivers' hours.
Many trips start at an airport
Arrival days are where coach rules are strictest. The notes below cover the airports where coaches have a set place. Each airport page has the full detail.
Rules the organiser should know
- A car with driver (Mietwagen) may carry out only bookings received at the operator's premises, so airport pick-ups by car with driver are always pre-booked
- At BER, tour and shuttle coaches use bus stop B in the car park opposite Terminal 1, about 400 m from Terminal 1 and 600 m from Terminal 2; drivers may not take their rest breaks there
- At Stuttgart airport, the bus terminal under car park P14, between Flughafenstraße and Terminal 4, has bays for long-distance coaches and occasional coach services
Questions organisers ask
Can one booking cover several kinds of trip?
Yes. An airport arrival, two days of excursions and a departure can all sit on one quote.
Can you book a wheelchair-accessible vehicle?
Yes. Say how many passengers use wheelchairs. Each wheelchair place takes out seats, so that number decides the vehicle.
How is a multi-day tour planned?
Around the EU drivers' hours: at most 9 hours of driving a day, 10 twice a week, and at least 11 hours of daily rest. Long legs may need a second driver.
