Bremen Airport coach transfers: a ten-minute run to the old town
Ten minutes by road in light traffic, about 4 km: that is all that separates Bremen Airport from the Marktplatz. The short distance is the easy part. The harder part is agreeing where the coach stops, because nothing is published for coaches.
No published coach point
Bremen names no coach pick-up point, no coach park and no waiting area for cars with driver. Groups usually gather in the terminal before heading out together. Where exactly the coach stands is fixed with the partner operator when you book.
Cars dropping off get 10 free minutes in the Kiss & Fly zone, counted by camera from entry; after that it costs. P1, the car park, stops anything over 2.00 m, so a coach is out.

The Umweltzone
Bremen's Umweltzone takes in the Altstadt and Östliche Vorstadt, large parts of the Neustadt and some of Schwachhausen. Coaches need the green sticker, including foreign ones. The Bürgerweide coach park by the Messe and the Hauptbahnhof lies outside the zone, though big events can fill it.
Hotels on the Schlachte or in the Altstadt are inside the zone. Send the address with the booking so the operator can check the coach and plan a set-down.
Where the coach meets the group
- The airport does not publish a coach pick-up point, a coach park or a waiting area for cars with driver. Groups are usually met in the terminal and walk to the vehicle; agree the meeting point and the stopping place with the operator when booking.
Coach parking and waiting
- No coach rules are published. Since September 2025, stopping in the Kiss & Fly zone in front of the terminal is free for up to 10 minutes, timed by number-plate cameras on entry; longer stops are charged. Car park P1 has a 2.00 m height limit.
By road to the city centre
- about 4 km by road to the Marktplatz, in the centre of Bremen, about 10 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Tram or coach
Line 6 trams leave from outside the terminal every 10 minutes and reach the Hauptbahnhof in about 15, carrying on into the centre. For a small group with light bags staying centrally, it works. The airport has no rail station of its own, so long-distance trains mean the Hauptbahnhof.
For a school class, a sports team with kit or a choir with instruments, the coach is the calmer option. It also takes the group straight to places the tram does not reach.
Bremerhaven cruise days
The Bremerhaven cruise terminal is about 70 km by road, around 55 minutes. Cruise groups may fly into Bremen the day before or on embarkation day. On the day itself, leave margin for baggage, a late flight and check-in at the ship.
Questions organisers ask
Can the coach wait in front of the terminal?
The Kiss & Fly zone gives 10 free minutes and charges after that. For a coach and a delayed flight, the operator plans the wait elsewhere.
Do we need a sticker?
Inside the Umweltzone, yes: the green sticker. That includes hotels in the Altstadt.
Is Hamburg Airport an alternative?
Hamburg Airport is about 125 km from Bremen, about 1 h 35 min. It can make sense when flights to Bremen do not suit, but it adds a long transfer.
