Dresden Airport coach transfers: close to the Altstadt, no coach bay

Only some 10 km separate Dresden Airport from the Frauenkirche on the Neumarkt. It has one terminal and no published coach point, so the boarding place is settled with the operator.

Where the group boards

Right outside the terminal runs the Hol- und Bringespur, a lane for dropping off and collecting passengers. PK1, the short-stay car park, lies about 150 m off, with two hours as a hard maximum. The airport issues yearly parking permits to transfer firms. None of these is a coach rule, so the operator agrees the boarding point with you before travel.

With 2.00 m of clearance, the multi-storey car park is out for a coach or a tall minibus.

Help on the arrivals level

Taxis and chauffeur services can be booked through the information desk in arrivals. For a group that is a fallback, not a plan. Book the coach in advance and give the driver the flight number.

Where the coach meets the group

  • The airport does not publish a coach pick-up point or coach park. There is a pick-up and drop-off lane (Hol- und Bringespur) directly in front of the terminal, and the short-stay car park PK1 is directly in front of the terminal, about 150 m away. Transfer services can hold an annual parking permit from the airport's parking management. The information desk on the arrivals level arranges taxis and chauffeur services. Agree the meeting point and the stopping place with the operator when booking.

Coach parking and waiting

  • No coach rules are published. PK1 has a maximum stay of 2 hours, which cannot be exceeded. The multi-storey car park, linked to the departures level by a covered glass bridge, has a 2.00 m height limit.

By road to the city centre

  • about 10 km by road to the Neumarkt (Frauenkirche), in the centre of Dresden, about 20 min in light traffic; longer at peak times

Into the city

Plan on 20 minutes to the Neumarkt in light traffic. No sticker is needed in Dresden, which has neither an Umweltzone nor diesel bans. Give us the hotel address and the operator plans the set-down.

From the station under the terminal the S2 runs half-hourly, reaching Dresden-Neustadt in about 14 minutes and the Hauptbahnhof in about 21. With no long-distance trains at the airport, onward rail journeys begin in the city.

Meissen and Saxon Switzerland

Meissen takes roughly half an hour (26 km); the Bastei in Saxon Switzerland about 55 minutes (56 km). Both fit an arrival day if the flight lands in the morning. A group landing in the afternoon is better off going straight to the hotel and starting fresh.

Some school classes and clubs combine Dresden with Berlin or Prague. Each long leg counts towards the driver's day, so share the full itinerary when you ask for a quote.

Questions organisers ask

Can a coach park at the airport while we wait?

No coach parking is published, and PK1 is limited to two hours. The operator plans the waiting time around the real landing.

Is it easier to fly into Leipzig or Berlin?

Dresden is the closest. Leipzig/Halle is about 124 km from Dresden's centre and BER about 170 km. For a Dresden programme, landing here saves a long transfer.

Do we need a sticker for Dresden?

No. Dresden has no Umweltzone. Trips into other cities may be different.
