Hannover Airport coach transfers: Terminals A to D and the Messe

Hannover Airport is at Langenhagen, about 14 km north of Kröpcke. Its access map shows a spot for coaches, yet no rules come with it, so the details are worked out with the operator.

The coach parking area

That spot comes without written terms: nothing on how long a coach may stay, whether it must register, or what it costs. The partner operator checks the current arrangement and tells you where the coach will stand and which way the group should walk.

The public bus stop, next to Terminal C, sits beside the airport hotel and P3. Terminals A and B are a few minutes' walk from there. The airport publishes no group meeting point, so agree one in advance.

Terminal D needs extra minutes

Terminal D has no check-in of its own: passengers check in at C, then walk roughly 300 m along level E1. For a departing group, build that walk into the timetable. For arrivals, a weather canopy for people meeting passengers stands on the east side of Terminal D.

The car parks are for cars only, up to 2.00 m high. P10, a seasonal car park, is the only one without a height limit, and over-height or over-length vehicles must reserve there. A coach should not count on a car park.

Where the coach meets the group

  • The airport marks a coach parking area (Parkplatz für Reisebusse) on its access map and gives its navigation position as N 52° 27.568, E 009° 41.990; it publishes no written rules for it (time limit, registration or charges). The public bus stop is between the airport hotel and car park P3, right next to Terminal C, and Terminals A and B are a few minutes' walk away. The airport publishes no group meeting point and no waiting area for cars with driver. For Terminal D, people collecting passengers park on the short-stay level in front of Terminal C or in the P3 short-stay area; a weather canopy for people meeting arrivals stands on the east side of Terminal D.

Coach parking and waiting

  • No coach rules are published. Parking directly in front of all terminals is free for up to 10 minutes, recognised by number plate on entry, for up to 2 entries per calendar day; from the 3rd entry the minimum charge applies, and no-stopping zones are excluded. In car parks P1, P2 and P3 the first 30 minutes are free. The car parks admit only cars and estate cars without trailers up to 2.00 m high (posted headroom: P1 and P3 2.1 m, P2, P4-P6 and P7 2.0 m); the seasonal car park P10 has no height limit and needs a reservation for over-height or over-length vehicles.

By road to the city centre

  • about 14 km by road to Kröpcke, in the centre of Hannover, about 20-25 min in light traffic; the airport gives about 25-30 min by taxi depending on traffic

No sticker in Hannover

Hannover lifted its Umweltzone in February 2024, so no sticker is needed in the city. Kröpcke is about 20 to 25 minutes by road in light traffic; the airport's own taxi estimate is 25 to 30 minutes.

The exhibition grounds lie in the south-east of the city, half an hour or so from the airport, traffic permitting. In a big fair week, such as HANNOVER MESSE in April 2027, roads around the grounds are busy. Plan early starts and fixed pick-up times at the hotel.

A checklist for the organiser

Before the day, send us: each flight number and terminal, the headcount with any wheelchair users, the number of large cases, and the first address. On the day, keep one person in charge of the group list and the driver's number. That covers most problems at an airport without a published coach rule.

Questions organisers ask

Is there a train to the city?

The S5 leaves from beneath Terminal C and needs about 18 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof, where the ICE connections are. The airport itself has no long-distance trains. Check the current rail service before relying on it.

Can the coach stop in front of the terminal?

The 10 free minutes in front of the terminals are counted by number plate and meant for short stops. Where a coach stops is agreed with the operator.

Coach or train for a trade-fair delegation?

A coach takes the group and its exhibition kit door to door in about 30 minutes. By rail it means the S5 and then a Stadtbahn line to the grounds.
