Hamburg, Kiel, Warnemünde, Bremerhaven by Coach
Germany's four big cruise ports each handle coaches differently. Some publish coach space at the terminal, others none. The drive inland ranges from a short hop to a long day.
Check the terminal, then the parking
Hamburg's cruise terminals are spread across the port. The coach goes to the one printed on the cruise documents. Coaches for the HafenCity terminal are registered in advance. Kiel publishes no coach parking at its terminals; waiting coaches use a bus park on Edisonstraße, about 9 km from the Ostseekai. At Bremerhaven the terminal has space for 20 buses.
Warnemünde needs most planning. Shuttle and excursion operators register with the port first, and coaches may not park at the terminal during calls. Berlin is about 243 km away, so a Berlin shore excursion fills the day and the driver's legal hours.
Questions organisers ask
What do you need for a cruise pickup?
The ship, the call date, the all-aboard time and the headcount. For an embarkation or disembarkation day, add flight or train times.
Can a group see Berlin from Warnemünde in a day?
Yes, but it is a long one: about 243 km each way. The time in Berlin is short, and the coach must be back before all-aboard.
How far is Bremerhaven from Bremen?
About 68 km by road to Bremen's Marktplatz, roughly 55 minutes by car in light traffic. A coach takes a little longer.
