Coaches for Berlin Marathon Running Groups
Sunday 26 September 2027 is race day for the GENERALI BERLIN-MARATHON, with start and finish in the Tiergarten, on Straße des 17. Juni. For running clubs and supporters, the coach does its work around race day, not on the course.
A new name, the same race
Up to 2026 the race was the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON; from 2027 it carries the GENERALI name. The course is 42.195 km past many of Berlin's sights and ends after the Brandenburger Tor. It is known as the flattest of the World Marathon Majors. More than 50,000 runners finish, and the inline-skating race is on the Saturday.
Race day: leave the coach parked
The time limit is 6 h 15 min, so roads on the course stay closed for most of Sunday. Straße des 17. Juni, normally a main coach parking street, is the start area.
Runners enter at Platz der Republik and Bremer Weg. Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Bundestag, Brandenburger Tor and Potsdamer Platz are the closest stations. A runner's bib is a public transport ticket in zones A, B and C from Thursday to Sunday of race week, so runners go by S-Bahn and U-Bahn.

What a coach is for that weekend
Arrivals first. From BER to the Brandenburger Tor is about 27 km, some 35 minutes in light traffic. A club landing together with its bags fits one coach. The participants' expo is at the former Tempelhof airport, and one run from the hotel gets everyone there to collect bibs.
After the race, the pickup goes away from the course and only after the roads reopen. The operator confirms a stop that suits the hotel and the closures.
The green sticker
Berlin's Umweltzone covers the centre inside the S-Bahn ring. A coach needs the green sticker there, including coaches registered abroad. The rule applies now; check it before travel.
Questions organisers ask
Can supporters follow the race by coach?
No. The course is closed to traffic. Supporters move between viewing points by S-Bahn and U-Bahn, and the coach takes over again once the roads reopen.
